Beitar Ilit - Then as Now
Beitar Ilit was founded in 5750 to the south-west of Jerusalem, and, according to most researchers, on the same land where the ancient city if Beitar stood over 2,000 years ago.
Beitar Ilit of today, as an Israeli metropolis, proudly bears the name of ancient Beitar, which was then - and still is today – a leading Torah center, from where the teachings of Torah spread to all of Israel.
The renewed city of Beitar of today has revived the soul of the ancient Beitar, and the voice of Torah, yirah and chassidus is once again spreading from the Judean Mountains. The new city of Beitar was established on the strong foundations of Torah and eternal love for the people.
Side by side, learners of Torah from all Jewish ethnic groups, sit together in the city's countless Torah centers, and toil in their studies to teach the wisdom of Torah to the People of Israel.
We face many challenges in various fields, but the incredible staff of the municipality's many departments stands united to face them in the best way possible and to make our dreams a reality.
Together, we give our heartfelt, grateful prayers for the past, and humbly ask for the future: "Till now, Your mercy has assisted us and Your kindness has not abandoned us – and do not abandon us G-d, for all of eternity".
Together, we will continue to hope and believe, to build, develop and advance, and offer the local residents the necessary services with love, transparency and joy of creation.
